Breakfast of Champions
This Saturday was a perfect start of the weekend, my husband and I woke up to head straight to the gym. We decided to start our day off with the gym first because of the early winter weather we were supposed to accumulate. As we got our running shoes on we looked out the window a noticed the start of the snow. Our pumpkins don’t quite look the same with snow on them, ha-ha!
We came back from the gym and were famished. I usually have an iced cold protein shake after a work out but this time I wanted something warm, hearty and a traditional breakfast cuisine. Here is what I came up with:
Protein Oat Waffle
1 egg white
1 scoop of protein powder (any flavor)
½ cup of whole grain oats
1/3 cup of milk
½ of a banana or a handful of mixed berries if preferred (optional)
A few chocolate chip bits (optional)
1 Tablespoon of bran
1 Tablespoon ground flax seed
Directions
I sprayed some extra virgin olive oil spray on my waffle maker burners as it was warming up and then poured my protein oat mixture inside. Close the waffle maker lid and let it cook for about 3 minutes or until the waffle is brought to a toasted brown color and starts teasing you with the wonderful aroma. I topped my waffle with a splash of powdered sugar for taste and then lightly dipped each bite into sugar free syrup.
*This recipe is great for protein, fiber, calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, and potassium.
ENJOY!!
